2001 Season - Week 16

We Have A New Leader

After leading for 14 of the first 15 weeks of the season Chief finds himself in second place one point behind Marcus. With Culpepper and Bettis having now missed the last 8 combined games Chief’s production has really stalled. He has been last in both week 14 and 15 and totalled just 21 points in that time. By comparison Marshall Faulk scored 24 points on Sunday for Mark and the Rams against Faulk’s former team Indianapolis. Fame Again Talking of Mark he rode Faulk’s 24 points plus 3 TD passes from Kordell Stewart to post a season high 58 points (equalling Chief’s week 9 score). That means Mark moves back ahead of Chief in most visits to the Hall of Fame, leading him 6 visits to 5. Mark has won each of the last three weeks and totalled 141 points doing so. That has lifted him from a relegation worrying 9th place up to a potential Championship winning 4th. Now There Are Four Paul scored an impressive and usually week winning 44 points, only to find himself runner-up to Mark’s Hall of Fame showing. Never the less he is now just 10 points behind Marcus and has to be considered a contender to lift the Papas Fritas Trophy. Although Marcus has taken the lead, with half his team being Raiders, he is mirroring the Silver & Blacks December slump and has scored just 70 points in the last 3 weeks. In the same time Paul has totalled 85 points, as previously mentioned Mark has doubled Marcus’s score while Chief has limped to 52. The winner will be decided next Wednesday when we watch Minnesota @ Baltimore in the Monday Night Game featuring Chief’s Randy Moss. Three Into Two won’t go. At the other end of the table Wayne now sits above the relegation line. Since week 13 he, Cheryl and Phil have taken it in turns to be in the drop zone. Two of them will surely join AP, Aaron and John in the Conference next year. Only a Hall of Fame week can save AP while a disaster might see either Dave G or Stampy as last minute casualties. Monday Night players include Wayne’s TE Shannon Sharpe, Cheryl’s QB Elvis Grbac and Stampy’s WR Cris Carter. BUMS Midweek Games Sunday Evening’s live game on Sky at 9pm will be The Jets @ The Raiders - a win for New York puts them in the play-offs, a win for Oakland gives them a first round bye. The Sunday Night Game is Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia which we’ll see from 6:30pm on Monday and then the Monday Night Minnesota @ Baltimore Papas Fritas & relegation decider will be from 6:30pm. Due to transport all games will be viewed at BUMS HQ.
